Madden ’13 Shows Us Why Ray Lewis Could Be as Crazy as Joe Flacco Thinks

Today, news broke that Baltimore Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco never quite understood legendary teammate Ray Lewis’ motivational verbiage. While the defending Super Bowl MVP may be a little slow on the uptake, his admission makes us wonder – did we EVER truly understand what Ray Lewis was talking about?

To help us solve this conundrum, we are breaking down what is arguably his most iconic speech: the intro to EA Sports’ Madden NFL ’13 (which, by the way, was a train wreck).

“I’ve always been told that, I’m too small. I’m not big enough. I’m not fast enough.”

Pretty sure you’re 6’1”, 240, and were a first rounder.  Not sure who “always told” you these things, but you should probably kill them too.

“To be the best and stay there, sweat is necessary.”

We disagree. Zack sweats more writing on Jockstrap than you did playing football, and he only got one offer for a video game intro – Hebrew Football 2014.

“Walter and Jerry had their hills, never being comfortable, with just good enough.”

Umm, we’re gonna go with the Flacs on this one Ray.

“It’s right now or never! RIGHT NOW OR NEVER!”

Yeah. Two Super Bowl wins, 10+ years apart. Definitely now or never…

“I prepare so nobody can take what is mine, no one can replace my mind. Or heart.”

Now you’re just being paranoid.

“Lombardi inspired men, and now our biggest prize, BEARS HIS NAME!”

Yeah, definitely not because he won the first two Super Bowls or anything like that.

“I’m older, of course I’m older. That’s the beauty of it.”

Let’s revisit this one in 10 years Ray. See if you still feel the same.

“16 years plus! Different level of wisdom, different level of understanding, different level of PUNISHMENT!”

Little angry there, toots? 16 years of getting smashed in the head repeatedly is sure to give you a “different level of understanding.”

“I wanna live LOOOONG after my records have fallen! LOOONG after my rings have tarnished!”

Well we would hope you want to live that long! And that you’d take better care of $50,000 pieces of bling….

“And whatever you got to do, to make sure you chase your legacy every second of your life!”

We kinda get where you’re going with this one.

“Will you be remembered? How would you be remembered? Why wouldn’t you fight for the greatest achievement ever?”

Fingerprints? A white suit?

The real question is, who is more motivational – Ray Lewis, or Alec Baldwin? That, we leave to you.
